Fibre
The wool fibres are sourced from Australia and spun in China. Our wool is supplied by Südwolle, a family-owned German company that has specialised in spinning wool since its foundation in 1966. The wool fibres are sourced from merino sheep in Australia and South America. The alpacas are responsibly farmed in the Peruvian highlands, where the spinning and dyeing of the yarn also occurs. Alpacas' impact is light on the land they graze which makes them one of the most environmentally friendly animals. To ensure the structural stability and durability of the yarn, a polyamide fibre is used. We aim to avoid synthetic fibres in our collections, but include it on this occasion to make sure our garments last without compromising the unique boucle texture.
Fabric
Our signature alpaca bouclé yarn is knitted together with fine merino wool to create a beautifully soft and wonderfully warm garment. Bouclé refers to a yarn made from looped fibres along the thread, which, when knitted, creates a lovely curly texture. It not only looks great but also forms additional air pockets for extra warmth. Each panel is knitted to the shape of the garment which therefore creates less wastage. Panels and trims are attached using a hand-linking machine, resulting in a premium, high-quality garment.
Factory
The knits are produced in close collaboration with one of our longest standing suppliers, a small knitter based in Dongguan, China. We have enjoyed working with owner Robert and his dedicated team, Ceci and Carmen, for over 20 years. Their knowledge, experience and attention to detail is second to none. We are proud to have them as part of our team.
