The alpacas are responsibly farmed in the Peruvian highlands, where the yarn is also spun and dyed. Thanks to their soft hooves and gentle feeding habits, alpacas have a light impact on the land on which they graze. Our wool fibres come from Argentina and Uruguay and are mulesing-free. To ensure the structural stability and durability of the yarn, a polyamide fibre is used. We aim to avoid synthetic fibres in our collections, but here it gives the alpaca yarn structural stability for the best possible quality.
Fabric
Our knitted baby alpaca and wool blend is wonderfully soft and lightweight, making it ideal for cosy jumpers and cardigans. Despite its light feel, the fabric provides exceptional warmth and comfort, creating knitwear that feels both luxurious and comfortable. The fibres are 'top' dyed before being spun into yarn. This process results in beautiful melange colours and a softer hand feel. Each panel is knitted to the shape of the garment which therefore creates less wastage. Panels and trims are attached using a hand-linking machine, resulting in a premium, high-quality garment.
Factory
The knits are produced in close collaboration with one of our longest standing suppliers, a small knitter based in Dongguan, China. We have enjoyed working with owner Robert and his dedicated team, Ceci and Carmen, for over 20 years. Their knowledge, experience and attention to detail is second to none. We are proud to have them as part of our team.
