We use the yarn in a variety of stitches, in particular rib stitches and moss stitch, to make lovely sweaters, cardigans and knitted jackets.
The combing of the cotton yarn removes impurities and the shorter fibres leaving long, straight fibres which are even and aligned. The result is a yarn that is softer against the skin as well as stronger and longer lasting.
To further enhance the yarn, the fibre is 'top-dyed' before being spun. Top-dyeing enables us to produce melange colours as well as giving the yarn an even softer hand feel.
The knits are produced in close collaboration with one of our longest standing suppliers, a small knitter based in Hong Kong. We have enjoyed working with owner Robert and his dedicated team, Ann and Carmen, for over 20 years. Their knowledge, experience and attention to detail is second to none. We are proud to have them as part of our team.
All our combed cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) from the organic fibre source to the spinning of the yarn. GOTS is the leading standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria and is backed up by independent third-party certification. We are working on extending the certification to cover the entire textile supply chain.
