We sat down with our woven designer, Harriet Disley to
get an insight into the Wrap design world and find out
what key pieces she will be wearing this summer.
Can you tell us a bit about your background and what lead you to become a
I was keen on art at school and had a brilliant teacher who encouraged me. This lead
to applying for a foundation in art and design where you try different areas of art
mediums. I found the fashion and textiles really exciting and worked towards applying
for the fashion course at Kingston which had a really good reputation. I did my degree
there, alongside some great internships with various designers in London and Paris,
then graduated and started working!
Where do you draw inspiration from when designing new collections?
It can come from anywhere, it may be an old photography book I find or a textile
What part of the design process do you enjoy the most and why?
The research, where anything is possible. But also, just working through the process
itself leads you to unexpected outcomes.
Which key items from the summer collection would you take away with you on a
I would take the strappy frill dress and wear it everywhere. The split leg wide leg linen
trousers would be good for the evening and the cotton sundress with the pockets for
What are your go-to wardrobe staples for summer in the city?
My go-to piece would be a loose airy midi dress for walking around the city in the
summer with sandals or trainers. Wide leg crop jeans are perfect to wear with anything
day or night, and I love the loose linen sweater with the split back for an alternative to
just a t-shirt.
